Indianas Corporate Wet Dream

Indiana House committee advances right-to-work bill
Let's get the name of this bill right.
It should be called "The Right To Work For Less" bill.
INDIANAPOLIS (Reuters) – An Indiana state House committee advanced Republican backed right-to-work legislation to the full House in a 15-minute meeting on Tuesday, one day after Democrats ended a boycott that had blocked its path.

The measure passed to the full Indiana state House of Representatives in an 8-5 vote along party lines over loud objections from opponents, who had asked to receive more testimony on the proposal they see as an assault on unions.

If the right-to-work proposal is approved, Indiana would be the first state in the industrial heartland of the United States to adopt such a law. It is in force in 22 other states, mostly in the South and West.

The facts speak for very loudly.

For an inclusive picture of economic vitality, let's look at the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) for the states in 2010? If we do that, we find that eight of the 10 states with the highest GDP per capita are non-right-to-work states. And when we look at the percent change in GDP in 2010, we discover that of the 10 states with the largest percentage increase, seven were non-right-to-work states. And conversely, seven of the 10 states with the lowest percentage increase (or with a loss) were right-to-work states.
Fuck you Mitch and your greedy corporate financiers!

What have I been saying for years. Major Study Links Decline of Unions to Rising of Income Inequality

It's well known that the death of America's labor unions coincides with a staggering rise in income inequality, though the link between the two has never been as obvious as it seems. Many academics argue that unions play a relatively minor role in the equation, instead blaming educational disparities and the shifting makeup of the economy. But now comes a major new study from Harvard sociology professor Bruce Western that suggests that the decline of unions is as important as any other factor, explaining a full third of the growth in of income inequality for male workers.
